What an amazing learning experience this has been so far! Although we might have blew a few things up, we managed to figure it out. This military truck has been one of the most enjoyable projects we have ever done and the possibilities are endless with it. We have so much more coming for this beast and we can't wait to finish it up. Thanks For Watching!!!

I'm concerned thees guys are millionares and cant wire a decent off grid system. I'm sorry boys but this is a fail in my books. No lithium batteries and not enough juice to do what you want your numbers are way off. Its not just wrong batteries.

Personally guys I recommend installing those batteries on the outside of the rig and also run 4 battery to have longer power overnight and also help with extra reserve power when it cloudy and in the shade. 12 volt Golf Cart batteries is the best for constant charging and discharging (such as the military grade batteries on that rig) and, yes golf cart batteries are expensive. Stay safe all

You need to open up some more ventilation around your AC unit; the louvers in the front of the box aren't enough but you could add some ventilation in the bottom of that box where it sits so that the side vents and the front of the outdoor coil can get the hot air out and it doesn't just build up in that box. And you have to isolate the inside of the AC from the outside otherwise heat will just flow back around the AC unit into the space. The AC can only be effective if it operates between two relatively sealed-off spaces.

What would y’all think about putting the solar panels on sliders so they could slide off the roof. That would give you “so much more room for activities” as well as a canopy for below when the panels are extended. Ehhh ehhh?

You guys should route your cables to the truck battery with fuses so that when the truck is on the alternator will charge your solar panel batteries too. I can give more explanation on that if you guys want. I do it on my upfits for customers for their power inverters with their inverter batteries.

Hi , you could run power from your big military grade alternator to your solar battery pack as back-up option, or from your truck battery just bypass to your solar battery pack, but keep in mind that your truck electric system is probably 24v, and your solar 12v thanks for quality content, and be safe, Marko from Serbia , Belgrade

Also be careful with those batteries because you can use only 50% of enegy in one battery. And when it drops below 50% is not ok for that kind of lead-acid battery. So realy buy lithium batteries like they are in electric vehicle and the are usable from 1% to 100% :p

Yeah you could have put four in series and the other four in series and run them together in parallel and then they would work with the charge controller. I would highly recommend doing that you will definitely need that extra wattage from the panels to run that ac and everything. I have 16000 watts on a house, with two trackers, trust me you want all the power you can get.

Glue and screw furniture - and seal so moisture not soak into the timber - if sleep in it there likely to be condensation. Get AGM batteries and to mount the lead acid ones outside the cabin under truck bed as give you more storage room inside and not have the venting issue.

Here are some electrical and power suggestions for your rig: Wall mount your inverter. It needs to dissipate a lot of heat and should not be in an enclosed space. You can add as many Rneogy RNG-100 panels as you have space on your roof (well, up to about 10). You can get a few Renorgy "branch connectors" ($12 each pair) to connect some of the panels in parallel. The way you wired your 120V generator into your breaker panel will only energize breakers on one side since its a 240V panel. You can fix this by wiring the panel for 120V only with a jumper cable which will energize the breakers on the other side and give you power to all your outlets. You will probably want to use your generator to run your air conditioner since it requires 660 watts and the compressor start up will create a current surge that m might temporarily exceed the power limits of your inverter. Your lead acid batteries absolutely need to be outside of your living space since a lead acid battery can produce both hydrogen gas (flammable) and hydrogen sulfide gas which is colorless, very poisonous, flammable. Consider a battery box you can weld to the underside of the truck. Every one of the RVs you looked at had the batteries outside for a reason. Safety first!

You could run 2 strings of 4 panels that way you use all 8 panels. Just run 4 panels in series and have to string in Parallel and Don’t freakin walk on your panels guys.

2 mánuðum síðan
tim wegman
tim wegman

Couple things guys you need to vent those batteries out of the cab and that ac needs to vent the hot air out the back of it to the outdoors as well. In most RVs I’ve seen set up the AC is connected to the generator not the solar because it’s to much of a drain so a small solar system and you only use AC when it’s really hot and can just use the gen for that.
