Detroit Symphony Orchestra
Maybe it's not that fair but in EU performance I don't remember audience applauding during movements.
I have seen this a billion times, this is probably my favorite concerto ever. This orchestra, Hilary and the conductor did an exceptional job.
_At __ 24:28 __sec, the smile that say's "I knocked this first movement out of the park! Did you love it as much as I did?_ 😁
Maravillosa interpretación magistralmente ejecutada.
looks like the main player can play but she is def. not a people's person.

The most beautiful music ever written, is in the public domain.
¡Cuando quieras empezar el concierto estúpido!
wunderbar frau hahn-leichtes fibrato, daran erkennt man das meisterliche(sagt ein Sänger)

...and then, a gigue by Bach, as bright as button, full of vigour! Taken out of context, one would have great difficulty understanding that Hilary had just played one of the most challenging of all violin concerti.Captivating, in front of a knowledgeable audience, a fabulous conductor & brilliant orchestra.
This is the girl from Twosetviolin!!! OMG!!!
: -) This "girl" is one of the greatest living violinists and will go on the list of best ever. The fact that she likes to hang out with TwoSet shows you what a great sense of humor she has and how NOT stuck up she is!
Absolutely brilliant, Hilary! Thank you! 💕🌹🎻🎶😀🍀👍
Платье, серьги, скрипка, чёрт побери , ВСЁ шикарно!
1. @ Allegro ma non troppo 2. @ Larghetto 3. @ Rondo.Allegro + Bach partita no.3 Gigue @

At 19:45 she is basically giving a Violin Masterclass.

Good on you, Detroit, signature performance 👌
In 2001 I saw her live for the first time and she was absolutely incredible back then. Still she kept improving, maybe not on the technical side, possibly impossible, but with her musical interpretation. She is my absolute favorite violinist among all the great out there!
El concierto para violin " mayor " o el concierto para violín más grande de todos los tiempos.
Please excuse this dumb question: why is it that the orchestra has sheet music, but the soloist doesn't?
@Joe Kundlak I get it now. Very good explanation. Thanks!
The soloist cannot rely on sheet music, he is usually the centerpiece of the composition and thus decides the tempo, slowdowns, speed-ups and the overall feeling. And, he needs to know the piece front-to-back, as the sheet would slow him down and constrain him. In contrast, the orchestra needs to play in harmony between the various instruments and they need to know when and where and with whom they play, so sheets are needed for reference (not that they could not play without them as well, in fact smaller orchestras often do). Also, the soloist is usually the best player there, so it is expected from him to know the piece by heart and to be able to best express his emotions (he trains it to be his second nature in order to play it well).
Awesome and the orchestra was superb under Maestro Slatkin!
I have attended every concert she played in L.A.'s Disney Hall. She and Sophie Mutter are the only two violinists I look forward to hearing year after year.
American audiences seem to be unaware that the piece isn't over after the first movement. Applause ruins the concentration and contemplation of a work with several movements. Perhaps conductor's should ask them to show their appreciation at the end.
i think they are very well aware. after hilarys playing of the first movement some just couldnt hold back ... and i totally understand it
Very inspiring riveting really look every moment gorgeous perfect performance
Holy Shit , she is amazing!!
Неплохая барышня, но уж слишком нерЬвная. Эпичности не хватило. В этом концерте нужно парить, парить и ещё раз парить, а не пахать. Человек рождён для счастья, как птица для полёта. А вообще она мне симпатична.
I love how Asians show, so much regard for music of the Western Classical World. If there is one thing people of European descent can take pride in, it is their accomplishments, in the art of music. And practically every other luxury ever created. I know, I know , it is not good for whites to be proud, but I am.
37:24 to 38:20 probably one of the best minutes of music of all times.
Fico apaixonada de ver. Excelente!!

Masterful ; "Beyond Great !
Beethoven lives through this performance by orchestra conductor and soloist working in harmony with his wishes!
This is one of the most joyful recordings of this concerto I have ever heard.
@gerard noest Hilary is unique. I think no one captures the joy she captures as in this performance.
@republiccooper Thanks for your advice, great to hear from you, and I will definitely give it a try, i.e. the CJK/Boreyko recording. All in spite of yet another prejudice, a positive one, I recently drove hundreds of miles to Berlin to hear Hilary...
@gerard noest If you do look for the CJK recording it's her performance with Boreyko and the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra.
@gerard noest I hard listened to Clara-Jumi Kang's version before. Clara is also excellent. I couldn't find a fault in her at all. But it was more intense and even darker. Hilary's, supported by the orchestra, here has more joy and feels more connected than most other interpretations. Nevertheless, on a given day I can imagine someone preferring to hear Clara-Jumi's and vice versa.
Joyful is definitely the right word! I quickly switched to this performance after fleeing from the tonne of bricks that Mr Vengerov was thrusting upon me. I admit I am prejudiced; I do not particularly like Mr Vengerov's rather muscular playing, nor his attitude. And Mrs Hahn is less pretentious, and her intonation is so natural and...perfect.
Beautiful playing as always, but why is she practically half-naked?
Because she couldn't be completely naked? :)
Wonderful performance !!
Exelente musica para relajarce
Federico shopin me gusta su música,
Hilary Hahn é impressionante!

Holy wow! Simply beautiful.....
Ridiculous whoever put that add in the middle no respect or class!
Her beauty is only surmounted by her ability.
There is a lot of bad concerts to hear. However this one is very good, It's Beethoven and Hilary!!!!
i am not crying, who is cutting onions?
That was just astounding. Was left in tears, an absolute joy.
Es hermoso siempre lo disfruto .
who’s the monster that puts ads in the middle of the concerto
I'm sorry, I cannot listen anymore, she stinks!
I love the looks the orchestra gives Hilary when she walks onto the stage. And how impatient she is to start xD
I`m a beginner but fasinating , heard everhthing. Sorry young people do not .ø
